Ryson High Speed RotatorThe Ryson High Speed Rotator has the ability to rotate loads inline 90º or 180º. This specialized conveyor is used in packing lines where products need to be rotated upside down or to one side without delay or product damage. The Ryson High Speed Rotator can accommodate a wide range of load sizes without adjustment.

This week we’ll be shipping a high speed rotators for our Integrator Partner, Sentry Equipment. Sentry’s customer had a need to turn their display cases upside down just prior to the case palletizer, so that they can be stacked with that orientation.

Ryson High Speed RotatorThe 16” wide tracks rotate the cases 90 degrees, then again another 90 at a speed of 120 FPM. This rotator is shown without the mandatory safety enclosure. These rotators are available in of 12”, 16”, 20” and 24” slat widths.

Other applications of the rotator is in wineries where cases of empty wine bottles are rotated to uncase the bottles to the filling line.

You can read more application stories about the Ryson High Speed Rotator in this weekly blog, or visit the Ryson Website. The video below shows exerpts from the FAT video we sent to our integrator partner.

Ryson Slat Conveyor

In addition to Spiral Conveyors and Bucket Elevators, we also manufacture slat conveyors, which use the standard chain/slat design of our spirals in a horizontal frame.

The two most popular applications of this style of conveyor are:

  • When space is limited and multiple curves are required to fit the layout.
  • In manufacturing environments where there are abrasives in the air that adversely affect conveyors that have wear strips and involve sliding friction. The abrasive dust causes these conveyors to prematurely wear out.

We shipped these conveyors to a Food Company for our Integrator partner, Integrated Solutions. They are handling 40 lbs. bundles of packaged rice on our 16” wide slat conveyors. The Integrator’s design team remarked that our layout flexibility and the conveyor’s longevity were the two factors they went with Ryson. They were adding to the system as well as replacing some existing mattop chain conveyors that could not hold up.

These conveyors have a load capacity of 75 lbs per foot and are capable of running up to 200 feet per minute. The Ryson slat conveyors are available in 12”, 16”, 20”, 24” and 26″ widths and are capable running up to 100 foot lengths on a single drive. For more information on Ryson Slat Conveyors, or our other vertical conveying solutions, please visit www.ryson.com.

This week we shipped a product that many don’t associate with Ryson. The High Speed Rotator.

Ryson High Speed RotatorThis 90 degree case rotator system is an in-line way to rotate cases or bundles either 90 degrees or 180 degrees at speeds up to 200 feet per minute. This is an efficient method of reorienting product for downstream palletizing.

The Rotators utilize the Ryson proven chain slat arrangement which allows for twisting in the track to manipulate the load without any special guide rail. The Ryson High Speed Rotator can accommodate a wide range of load sizes without adjustment.

The video below shows the unit being tested at our manufacturing facility prior to being shipped.

Ryson Slat ConveyorThis week, we’re building a Model 500 S-Curve Slat conveyor for transporting cases in the distribution center of a major cosmetics company. They are using our unit in place of standard powered roller and belt conveyors in a tight area where the cases are being scanned. The orientation of the product passing the scanner is critical at the speed of 150 feet per minute and our overlapping slats provide that.
An additional benefit was lower implementation costs. The alternative to this design was our integration partner W & H systems specifying two v-belt curves and a belt conveyor between them for a total of (3) motors. Our single gearmotor is all that is required, reducing field wiring, installation and ongoing energy costs.

Ryson Slat ConveyorThis week Ryson is shipping a slat conveyor to a major pet care manufacturer.  For those that aren’t familiar with the Ryson Slat Conveyor, it’s basically the proprietary chain-slat arrangement used in our spiral conveyor design running horizontally.

This conveyor will transport plastic containers of kitty litter between processes and makes a small elevation change. The customer uses our conveyor because the dust in their plant is very abrasive, so any type of conveyors that rely on “dragging friction” wear out very quickly. Because our chain slat design is only rolling friction, there is no rapid wear on any of our components, resulting in long life and a lower cost of ownership for the end user.

Only one drive is required for each 250 feet of conveyor, which minimizes the number of transition points required. This also significantly reduces the cost of controls and system integration. The Ryson slat conveyors are available in widths of 8”, 12”, 16”, 20” and 24”. For more information, visit www.ryson.com. Our integrator partner on this project is Midwest Industrial Concepts.

Ryson Dual Track Spiral ConveyorRyson recently hosted a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for Gonnella Frozen Food Products, Inc. The Systems Integrator Thomas Conveyor Company approached Ryson  with an interesting challenge: To replace two existing case elevators with one Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor in a very tight space.

Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor Shipping

Due to tight installation space, the Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor had to be partially assembled on location

The spiral itself is 18 feet tall and has 6 1/2 turns. At the FAT, the spiral was fully assembled, and running test product. Ryson Spirals normally ship in once piece, but this spiral had to be partially disassembled prior to shipping in order to be installed in a very restricted space. The old case elevators were ripped out, and the new spiral installed over a weekend.

The new Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor is the ultimate in space savings.

Two tracks operate independently within one spiral structure. Both slat conveyor tracks can go up or down, and can optionally be reversible. The Dual Track Spiral Conveyor is an ideal solution when space is an important issue. Visit the Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor page on www.ryson.com to get additional information. You can also view more application stories about the Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor on our weekly blog. Below is some video footage from the FAT in our manufacturing plant in Yorktown, Virginia.
