Custom Spiral Options: Every Ryson Spiral is made to order. Each spiral is built to our customers specifications, including infeed height, elevation change and angle of incline, to name a few. We we also offer many more non-standard options.

Ryson Conveyor with Custom Spiral Options

Ryson Spiral with a modified angle of the infeed tangent

This week, we shipped a spiral that had several custom options. Mechanically, this model 1500-400 spiral features a custom infeed angle to better fit into the customers layout.  The spiral is also equipped with the safety prox switches pre-wired to a terminal box. In addition to the chain tension and motor overtorque sensors, optional retro reflective sensors were added at the in and outfeed of  the spiral to detect jams.

When a spiral is installed in the field, prewiring options can save time and money. Custom angles can potentially save even more floorspace and can solve line layout challenges in a tight space.

All Ryson Spirals are made to order and can include many optional features. Custom side guards are one example.

Ryson custom Side GuardsFrom time to time, we get a request from our integrator partners whose customers are seeking an extra tall side guard on our spirals. However, a solid height side guard with an extended height blocks them from seeing loads transported up the various turns.

Our newly-designed modular side guard extensions allow the operators to see those loads through the lexan guards that attach easily with hardware already a part of the spirals.

The design also allows the maintenance people to easily remove the lexan guards in 1/8 turn sections to gain access to any area of the spiral.

Space-Saving Solution: This week Ryson is shipping a special spiral to Gonac Huamantla in Tlaxcala Mexico, a leading producer of snack foods and beverages for the Mexican market. They have chosen a custom Ryson Spiral to meet the needs of their packaging line application.

Ryson Custom space-saving Dual Lane SpiralTheir packaging process needed to convey two separate sizes of shrink-wrapped packs of juice beverages (20-pack and 24-pack) at the same time. They needed to decline from over 16 ft to 3 ft. and each line needed to be channeled into their own destination.

Instead of installing 2 separate spirals, they have chosen to use the Ryson’s 1700-600-A4 with 24” wide slats. That allows them enough space for a custom twin-lane design, allowing them to convey both sizes of packs in an orderly and secure fashion.

In doing so, they can transport two lines at 30 packs per minute running utilizing the same drive motor. This allows them to essentially have 2 spirals in the same space. The unit is still able to ship in a single piece and can be installed quickly to further reduce installation and integration costs.

This week, a Ryson custom Spiral is built to solve layout challenges in an existing system.

Ryson Custom SpiralOur Integrator partner – GC Evans needed to line up their client’s new case packer to some existing conveyors. The application is for a major brewery’s new can line in an old building with a lot of special angles. The spiral’s infeed needed to meet some non-standard tangent angles to link the new and existing parts of the line together, both at different elevations.

The Ryson spiral conveyor is ideal for this, because of it’s high throughput capabilities and modular construction. It allows the end-user a very reliable solution for vertical conveying of the packaged product on it’s way to the palletizer. The spiral shipped on a skid in one piece, streamlining the implementation of the system at the site.
