Frozen Foods on a Ryson Mass Flow Spiral

Frozen Foods Handling: Guacamole has quickly become one of the most popular condiments in the world – especially in the US – and the Yucatan Foods brand can be found in stores throughout the country.   The facility for Yucatan Food is located in the state of Guanajuato Mexico and its entire production of guacamole is for export to the US.   Their challenge was to bring the various sized tubs of guacamole from the top of the freezer at over 17ft high to the ground level in a small footprint so as not to encroach into the packaging area. When running at capacity, the freezer – which has a discharge width of over 1 meter – must transport as many as 200 tubs of frozen foods product per minute. To allow both large and small tubs to transition smoothly, Yucatan Foods chose the Ryson Mass Flow spiral with its lateral transfer design.

The freezer belt is running at approximately 10 fpm and by using a set of multi-speed transition belts, the Ryson Spiral, with a chain width of 16″ running at 50 fpm, conveys the load seamlessly and smoothly. As with many of our spiral in food production, Yucatan has opted to use the Ryson Hybrid design which is an economical solution for this type of application.
