Slow Speed Spiral conveyor Aids Cooling Process

Ryson Slow Speed Spiral with Paper Plates

This slow speed Spiral Conveyor was recently shipped to Nova Scotia, Canada. The integrator needed to increase the length of conveyor between two processes allowing the product to cool down.

The process starts with the press and stacker, which discharges 8” tall stacks of paper plates hot from the press.  To allow for cool down of the plates before entering the wrapper (which wraps the stacks in plastic), the integrator utilized a Ryson slow speed Spiral 1200-300 Decline Conveyor, adding an extra 40 feet of effective conveyor length to the line, while adding only 5’-3” to the system footprint.  Allowing for the necessary cooling time of the plates, the spiral speed is only 10 feet per minute. That makes this among the slowest spirals ryson has ever delivered.

This is a good example of using the many Ryson design parameters to apply to almost any vertical conveying application. Most spiral models can run at any speed up to 200 feet per minute. For more information on Ryson spiral design features, visit the spiral conveyor page on www.ryson.com.
