In the midst of Ryson’s summer production, we would like to pause and wish you a Happy 4th of July.

ryson Spirals

This photo was recently taken from our production floor in our Yorktown Virginia plant. The color of the spirals lined up together are completely serendipitous, but we felt it fitting to send this recent photo of red, white and blue spirals for our Independence Day blog. Obviously our powder coated spirals are available in nearly any RAL color.

We would like to wish you a happy and safe Holiday weekend. – The Ryson Team.

Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral ConveyorRyson Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyors are a super compact vertical conveyor for handling small loads.

The Narrow Trak Spirals have a centerline diameter of only 3’- 7”. they are a great space saver that offers high throughput.

They offer a significantly larger elevation change capacity than what is currently available in the small package marketplace. A new 6” wide nesting slat has the capability to end-transfer small cartons and packages, or side-transfer small bottles and containers in a single file or in mass at speeds in excess of 200 fpm.

This is a good alternative to side gripper elevators, because the spirals can run at high speeds and do not need to be adjusted for varying product sizes.

Our modular design concept makes it easy to custom configure the spirals and meet the customers’ specific requirements. This compact unit is equipped with the Ryson proprietary low friction slat style belt which assures high capacity, high speed, low energy consumption, low maintenance and long life. This new model is especially beneficial for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, personal care,  food and beverage product companies.

Ryson Spirals can easily be configured to replace existing or antiquated units. This week we are shipping a pre-wired unit load spiral that will replace an outdated belt curve spiral in a parts storage area.

Ryson pre-wired spirals

Ryson Spirals can be delivered with pre-wired controls to minimize installation time or replace existing conveyors without additional electrical work.

We were approached by our Integrator Partner, RH Brown Company, to find a solution for their end-user: a large US manufacturer of commercial airliners. They wanted to replace their old high-maintenance belt spiral with a modern slat-type spiral with a small footprint and lower maintenance.

In addition, there was a requirement to minimize the scope of the electrical work required to implement the new spiral’s controls. So Ryson manufactured a pre-wired decline spiral, ready to install, with a local control system tied back to the main controls cabinet and an extended outfeed to eliminate the need for an additional powered conveyor. This ready-to-install spiral conveyor will minimize the disruption of the warehouse operation when it is delivered and result in a clean & fast start-up of the new machine.

For more information on the installation process of Ryson Spirals, please refer to the installation section of www.ryson,com.

Tall Ryson High Capacity Spiral Conveyor

In the shop this week we are finishing a tall high capacity spiral conveyor. The HC 1700-400 (16″ wide slats) is going to a large consumer products manufacturer in Mexico. The spiral will become part of a system where products from 9 different packaging lines are conveyed overhead to an adjacent building. The spiral then declines variable sized packages 28 feet down to floor level at a speed of 200 FPM. From there they go to sortation and palletizing prior to shipping. The integrator on the project is C & A Systems out of Mexico.

The robust high capacity design gives Ryson the ability to go taller – and with more weight, while staying with our proven proprietary modular design. The total weight capacity in the spiral lift at any one time is 3600 lbs. Only one drive motor is required, resulting in substantial savings in energy, controls and system integration. Most models are shipped totally pre-assembled, which will minimize the implementation costs at their destination.

Ryson Spiral for Future Modification

Additional hardware is included with this spiral to change its height and configuration at a later time.

The modular design of the Ryson Spiral Conveyors allow for many aspects of each spiral to be customizable, both at the time of manufacturing and later as a retrofit or repurposing.

On a current project, the modular construction of our vertical lifts allowed a major food manufacturer to order a spiral for an immediate need while being able to anticipate upcoming changes in their packaging line.

The Systems integrator (Brenton Engineering) asked us to build the spiral in our “B” configuration to discharge at 11’-0” and had us manufacture the spiral with an extended center tube for a future change to  a 16’-0” discharge elevation. As an option with all our spirals, Brenton Engineering had us pre-wire the machine, anticipating the future change in elevation of the motor. The spiral included a Ryson stand alone control package.

Ryson Shipping a repurpose spiral

The “repurposing kit” will ship with the spiral conveyor including all the parts necessary to change the elevation and shift from our “B” to our “A” configuration. The ability to re-purpose the spiral on site within 12 months saved their client a considerable amount of time and money. Having the kit on hand allows the customer to perform the change on short notice.

Ryson Dual Spiral Conveyor

Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor used for multi-level application

Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyors are the Ultimate in Space Savings:

Ryson’s innovative modular design allows us to customize and modify the spirals to accommodate your emerging needs. All spirals are made to order, accommodating most requirements relating to the location of the in and out feed tangents.

The two tracks do not have to feed in and out of the spiral at the same elevations, and can be applied very effectively to multi-level order picking modules or similar applications. The outside track serves the first level and the inner track the second level.

Models with dual 8″, 12″, 16″ and 20″ wide slats are currently available.

All configurations of the Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyor can operate up or down in a clockwise or counterclockwise rotation and custom configurations are available. Read More about Ryson Dual Track Spiral Conveyors or Download the Dual Track Spotlight.
