Ryson Dependability turns into repeat customersRyson Dependability is something we strive for. Customer service and support go hand-in-hand with the quality and cost of ownership of our products. In many cases that turns into repeat customers.

Here’s a shot from a project site where we recently installed ten new 1700-600 spirals. The end-user, a manufacturer of paperboard products had commissioned one of our spirals seven years ago in a packaging environment running seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

That Ryson Dependability and low cost of ownership made it a simple decision to go with Ryson Spirals on their latest plant expansion. The spirals were installed at the end of ten production lines, conveying finished product up to overhead conveyors which flows to the palletizing area.

The spirals were pre-wired in our shop to special specifications called out by the customer. They shipped totally pre-assembled and coupled with the pre-wiring, reduced field implementation time once they arrived on site. The spirals feature a 24″ wide conveying surface and have an 8 foot elevation change.

Recently, our controls and service groups were assisting our Integrator Partner, Conveyor & Drives, Inc. with a project. The end-user, a distribution center for computer peripheral equipment, was replacing a competitor’s spiral conveyors, due to reliability issues they were having with them.

Stacked Ryson Spirals at a Distribution CenterThe reconfigured system consists of two of our model 1700-600’s, double stacked. One spiral inclines from level one to level two, the other declines totes down to level three. Our AutoCad 3D drawings helped Conveyor & Drives confirm the space necessary to install our spiral extended leg support structure, supporting the upper spiral.

We were asked to replace the existing spirals over a short down-time window by our Integration Partner. They also asked us to include a pre-wired full controls option, which included chain tension monitoring system and a motor over torque shutdown, because the previous spirals did not have them.

Ryson Custom Prewiring

Custom Prewiring: Ryson Spirals are customizable. Height, slat width, speed, angle and direction are unique to each spiral. We offer additional optional features including making the unit reversible, powered transition rollers and controls and custom prewiring.

Today we shipped a model 1500-400 case-handling spiral to a repeat customer. The mounting of it’s control panel on this spiral is unique. The food manufacturing company wanted the control panel mounted on the base frame so that they would not have to clean around the panel. The control panel was mounted behind the spiral because the front was too crowded because of it’s extended curved infeed.

The Ryson Engineering Department designed a tubular welded panel mounting plate coming off the base of the spiral. The spiral is also outfitted with motorized rollers at the infeed and outfeed transitions and is reversible.

Controls options for SpiralsRyson offers pre-wiring and controls options for spirals.
The pre-wiring options can greatly reduce the time and cost of installation for our Spiral Conveyors. The most common option is to add and pre-wire the motor disconnect switch. Other popular options include prewiring of the chain tensioner and motor over torque sensors to a common terminal enclosure.
The stand alone control option is an especially attractive option if a spiral is replacing existing equipment or if an additional line is being installed.
Ryson has published a product spotlight describing the pre-wiring and controls options, and is available for download on ryson.com.

Every Ryson Spiral Conveyor is Made To Order to Customer Application Requirements

Every Ryson Spiral Conveyor is made to Order.

Every Ryson spiral is made to order to fit your specific application. Variables such as change in elevation, load size and stability, conveying speed, in and out feed angles, throughput volume, weight and orientation requirements are all considered when our proposal team comes up with spiral solutions and pricing.

Ryson has six standard slat widths ranging from 8″ to 26″. The spiral footprint depends on the width of the slat. Slat widths take your product size and or volume requirements into consideration. The angle of incline or decline depends on two major variables – the change in elevation required and the unit stability. Naturally a stable product with a low center of gravity can traverse at a greater angle.

The modular design of the Ryson Spiral Conveyors enables any in-feed and out-feed tangent, allowing you to fit a vertical lift spiral into your line with the smallest possible footprint. Any Ryson Vertical Spiral can be designed to go up or down and can optionally be made reversible. We also work closely with our integrators and offer other options, including special safety considerations, controls, pre-wiring and other options to facilitate integration. All Ryson Spirals are available in powder coated carbon steel (any RAL color), stainless steel, washdown and freezer versions.

Please check out our RFQ form for more information about our spiral conveyors. If you fill in the application specifics, our Ryson proposal team will quickly reply with a spiral recommendation and pricing. You can read more about The Ryson Spiral Conveyors on www.ryson.com.
