Ryson Spiral with Powered Transition RollersLast week, we shipped a spiral with quite a few pre-wired controls options, including  powered transition rollers.  A powered roller is most often used when the package being conveyed is either short, or lightweight. It helps assure a smooth and reliable transition onto and off of the spiral conveyor.

The integration partner on this project was NCC Automated Systems. They needed to convey sealed cartons that were both light and short. A Ryson 1200-300 case spiral was designed with a motorized transition roller at both the infeed and outfeed.

The end user also requested a stack light fault indicator because their ambient noise levels can prevent them from hearing the alarm enunciator.

Pre-wiring options can greatly reduce the time and cost of installation for our Spiral Conveyors. The stand alone control option is an especially attractive option if a spiral is replacing existing equipment or if an additional line is being installed.

Ryson has published a product spotlight describing the pre-wiring and controls options, and is available for download on ryson.com.

This week we’re shipping a spiral to a Distribution Center with new pre-wired control options.

Our Integrator partner, Conveyor Solutions Inc., requested a pre-wired Spiral Conveyor. Their master control panel was remote, requiring a local mounting of a NEMA 12 control enclosure that incorporated a panel mounted disconnect and a VFD (variable frequency drive).  The VFD was wired so that the integrator could control the spiral with a few digital inputs, and also have the spiral safeties (slack chain and motor over-torque) prewired, so they could be integrated easily.

The ease of implementation and lower cost of us doing that in our factory saved money and installation time.

Most of our Spiral Conveyors are shipped without controls because they normally integrate with an overall conveyor control system. Our spirals always include an inverter duty gear motor and two proximity sensors, one for the automatic chain tensioner and one for the overload protection device. Ryson offers a number of other pre-wiring  and control options.  For more information about Ryson Spiral Conveyor options, visit www.ryson.com.
