The Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral is ideal for a high speed inline bottling operation. Due to it’s modular design, it can be configured to the most challenging layouts. We also have the flexibility to build a spiral in sections to address tight egress installation challenges.

Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral aids in Tight Egress InstallationThis week we shipped a spiral that is a perfect example example of tight egress installation . Due to plant and line access issues, the spiral has to travel down an aisle-way only 42” wide. This required us to design the spiral such that it could ship in (4) sections (note the flanges in the center tube). This Narrow Trak Model 1100-150 spiral is for our Integrator Partner, Sentry Equipment, to be installed at a west coast bottler, running sports drinks in PET bottles at 525 per minute.

The spiral has an elevation change from 15’-4” down to 6’-6” and will side transfer and decline the bottles at a speed of 180 FPM (this spiral has a top rated speed of 220 FPM). The spiral will be run in and tested with product at our manufacturing plant in Yorktown, Virginia, before it is dis-assembled and shipped to the west coast. Then one of our service technicians will assist the Sentry millwrights in the assembly and start-up.

The spiral is also pre-wired with NEMA 4x controls and is built as our new Hybrid stainless steel wash down construction. This option allows the end-user to perform a daily cleaning of the spiral. The nesting slats have the capacity to reliably end-transfer small cartons and packages or side-transfer small bottles or containers in a single file or in a continuous mass flow.  The spiral conveyors are equipped with our new 6” or 9” wide nesting slats which provide an efficient flat conveying surface without gaps.

Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyors used for Curing Time: This week we finished a pair of Narrow Trak Spirals that will be used for a not-so-common application.

Two Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyors used for Curing Time

The products being handled need curing time to solidify in their containers.  This is done in a temperature controlled, chill room.

By using two 1100-150 Narrow Trak Spirals this was accomplished in a very small footprint.

Each spiral has 8 turns, providing extra travel distance and keeping the incline angle low, which is important while waiting for the product to solidify. Depending on the products being handled, they may spend up to 4 minutes traveling through the spirals before exiting the room.

The two spirals are joined together at the top by our new micro-pitch conveyor.  This special conveyor is attached to, and mechanically driven by one of the spirals facilitating the smooth transfer of smaller products.

The design of the narrow trak slats allow the spirals to handle a variety of products without requiring any changes between products. The integrator on this project is Pendergraph Machines.

The Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals are great space savers with high throughput that can run at speeds in excess of 200 fpm.  These spiral conveyors are equipped with our 6” or 9” wide nesting slats which provide an efficient flat conveying surface without gaps.

The micro-pitch conveyor is our newest accessory to the Narrow Trak family of spiral conveyors.

micro pitch conveyor

This micro-pitch transfer conveyor is slave-driven off the drive or idle-end shafts and is geared to match the speed of the spiral- perfectly –  even at high speeds.

This transfer unit minimizes the unpowered gap between the spiral and adjoining conveyors, allowing smaller and lighter products to be end transferred into and out of the spiral. When end transferring the slats can be equipped with friction inserts to provide more friction. This allows steeper incline/decline angles which yields greater elevation changes with the same number of turns.

The Narrow Trak spirals are available in a 6” and 9” wide nesting slat design. The proprietary slat design have the capacity to reliably end-transfer small cartons and packages or side-transfer small bottles and containers in a single file or in a continuous mass flow. The Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals are great space savers with high throughput that can run at speeds in excess of 200 fpm.

The transfer unit is available in either a powder coated or stainless steel versions. For more information on the Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral conveyors, visit www.ryson.com, or download the NT product brochure.

This week, we’re shipping two Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals (an incline and a decline) for transporting empty plastic bottles up from a bulk depalletizing station to be conveyed overhead and then back down to the filler and labeler.

Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyor

Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals will be used to convey empty plastic bottles.

Our 6” wide slat Narrow Trak was specified, but needed to utilize the larger-diameter model (1700-150NT) to facilitate the tall bottle’s clearance through the spiral. The spiral was painted one of Ryson’s 200 standard RAL colors and has an elevation change of 8 feet at a speed of 60 feet per minute.

The NT Spirals offer a significantly larger elevation change capacity than what is currently available in the small package marketplace. They are also a good alternative to side gripper conveyors because they can run at high speeds and do not need to be adjusted for varying product sizes.

Stainless Steel Options for the Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals This week we are preparing two new NT (Narrow Trak) spirals with stainless steel options for a customer factory acceptance test (FAT). The spirals will be transporting plastic tubs of personal care products for a major consumer products manufacturer.  To prevent marking of the product at the line speed of 200 feet per minute, we are providing the spiral with stainless steel side guards on the inside and outside. This also gives the machines a sanitary appearance and matches well with the stainless steel table top conveyor adjoining the down spirals in the line.

This combination of stainless steel and powder coated finishes has become so popular in this model that we have adapted it as a standard option.  This model is also available in a hybrid stainless steel version. The NT is ideal for small loads with it’s 5″ wide nesting slat design and saves considerable floor space with it’s 3’9″ outside diameter.
