Ryson High Capacity Spiral Conveyors have the ability to induct and divert out at intermediate elevations.Ryson High Capacity Spiral Conveyors have the ability to induct and divert out at intermediate elevations. This is especially useful in multi-tier pick modules and warehousing. It allows a single space saving spiral to service multiple levels. The cost and space savings is exponential.

The video below shows some recent applications where Ryson Spirals are used to induct or divert out at intermediate points. There are 2 main operating modes for the induction operation. The first is where controls are applied to find a gap in the product flow to induct the loads, the other is a “batch” induction where “slugs” are introduced to the spiral at the same time.

The special induction and divert conveyors have individually adjustable conveying surfaces to match the spiral pitch, assuring a smooth and reliable operation.

The Ryson Multiple Entry Spirals allow loads to enter our High Capacity Spirals at intermediate elevations. This is an ideal cost and space saving configuration because it allows a single spiral to handle multiple lines.Ryson Multiple Entry Spirals with Induction Conveyor

Ryson Multiple Entry Spiral Configuration

The multiple entry ability is most often utilized in two main areas:

In the manufacturing and packaging market, an induction conveyor is typically installed at ground level, near the Spiral’s infeed. This configuration simply allows flow from separate production lines to feed a single spiral.

In the distribution and warehousing industry it is most often used to feed materials from a multi-tiered mezzanine onto a single spiral. (see drawing on left). This is an ideal application and an efficient use of space when compared to traditional methods.

A  high speed induction conveyor provides controlled spiral entry. The new induction conveyor powered roller design is individually adjustable to match the spiral pitch, assuring a safe and reliable product transfer. The spirals will run at 200 feet per minute.

We are proud to introduce a new Multiple Entry and Divert Out Spiral that allow loads to enter or exit the Ryson High Capacity Spirals at intermediate elevations. The video below was filmed at Pack Expo in Las Vegas and will be featured in a new products highlight post show blast from Packaging Strategies Magazine.

A new special induction and divert conveyors design features individually adjustable conveying surfaces to match the spiral pitch, assuring a smooth and reliable operation. They are an ideal space-saver for vertical transportation, especially with multi-tiered pick modules, warehousing and multi-level production operations. For more information, visit www.ryson.com. The Ryson High Capacity Spirals are in response to our customers need to go higher and handle more weight. They are perfect for Multi-Level Pick Modules.

Multiple Entry and Exit Spirals allow loads to enter or exit the High Capacity Spirals at intermediate elevations. New special induction and divert conveyors have individually adjustable conveying surfaces to match the spiral pitch, assuring a smooth and reliable operation.

The loads can enter or exit the spirals in the up or down rotation, and offers great space-savings in multi-tiered order picking systems or multi-level production operations.

An increasing number of systems take advantage of these new features. Ryson recently delivered  High Capacity Spirals to a distribution center in Pennsylvania with a multi level order picking system. Featuring both multiple entry and exit capabilities. View the video below.

The down spirals induct loads at three intermediate elevations and the up spirals divert out at two different elevations. Our integrator partner on this project is Bastian Solutions. For more information about Ryson’s Vertical Conveying Solutions, please visit our website at www.ryson.com.

Since being introduced to the market some 18 months ago, the Ryson High Capacity Spirals with multiple infeeds have been installed in distribution centers and packaging lines all over North America.  The multiple entry spiral conveyor is truly a viable and cost-effective solution for multi-tiered product flow.

Heavy Duty Multi Infeed Spiral Conveyor

We recently were approached by our OEM integrator, JEM International – of Shawnee, Kansas to elevate 40 lb. paper bags of a powdered pharmaceutical additive from two lines. The first line feeds in at an elevation of 1′ – 6″ and the second line feeds in perpendicular to the first line at an elevation of 2′ – 0″.  The outfeed is at 16′ – 0″. The challenge was that the customer only had space for one spiral conveyor after the filling operation. The Ryson solution included a high capacity spiral conveyor with an additional floor level induction conveyor.

The Ryson High Capacity Spiral Conveyors are designed in response to our customers’ need to go higher and handle more weight.

These high capacity vertical spirals handle double the capacity of our regular spirals and ship in one piece which will drastically reduce the time and cost of installation. Ryson Spiral Conveyors need less floor space than conventional vertical conveyors and are faster and more reliable than any elevator or lift. The load capacity is 75 lbs. per linear foot of conveyor for speeds up to 200 FPM.  The total weight capacity in the spiral at any one time is 3600 lbs.  Only one drive motor is required, resulting in substantial savings in energy, controls, and system integration.

The Multiple Entry Spirals allow loads to enter the spirals from several different elevations. A new high speed induction conveyor provides controlled spiral entry. The conveyor belts are individually adjustable to match the spiral pitch. Traffic controls are required to prevent loads entering from different levels colliding in the spiral.

Irving Tissue recently put into operation a Ryson Multiple Entry Spiral Conveyor in a new production line. This high capacity spiral is equipped with 24″ slats. The in-feed is at 2′-0″ and the out-feed is at 24′-8″. What makes this application interesting is that the second infeed is on the floor level, allowing two production lines to use the same spiral. This results in substantial space and cost savings. View the short clip below.
