Ryson At ExpoPack 17

This week Ryson is exhibiting at ExpoPack in Guadalajara, Mexico. There is a considerable amount of foot traffic and buzz around the show.

Every year Ryson attends ExpoPack, we get noticeably more attention. This year, we are running both our Case Spiral Conveyor and our Bucket Elevator. They have both generated a lot of interest with many solid application leads. This show is also a great opportunity to sit down with our Latin American integrator partners as well as having conversations with new prospects.

Ryson will also be exhibiting at Fispal, in Sao Paulo, Brazil later this month. Then Envase Alimentek Farmatek in Buenos Aires, Argentina in August and Andina Pack, in Bogotá, Columbia in November.

Frozen Foods Handling: Guacamole has quickly become one of the most popular condiments in the world – especially in the US – and the Yucatan Foods brand can be found in stores throughout the country.   The facility for Yucatan Food is located in the state of Guanajuato Mexico and its entire production of guacamole is for export to the US.   Their challenge was to bring the various sized tubs of guacamole from the top of the freezer at over 17ft high to the ground level in a small footprint so as not to encroach into the packaging area. When running at capacity, the freezer – which has a discharge width of over 1 meter – must transport as many as 200 tubs of frozen foods product per minute. To allow both large and small tubs to transition smoothly, Yucatan Foods chose the Ryson Mass Flow spiral with its lateral transfer design.

The freezer belt is running at approximately 10 fpm and by using a set of multi-speed transition belts, the Ryson Spiral, with a chain width of 16″ running at 50 fpm, conveys the load seamlessly and smoothly. As with many of our spiral in food production, Yucatan has opted to use the Ryson Hybrid design which is an economical solution for this type of application.

Please visit www.ryson.com for more information on the Mass Flow Spiral Conveyor, and it’s finish options.

In addition to vertical transport with a small footrpint, Ryson Spiral Conveyors can also used to create  aisles without disrupting product flow. As you can see from the photo below, two spirals are used to create an uninhibited thoroughfare for forklifts.

Ryson Spiral create aisles

Two Ryson Spirals are utilized to create an uninhibited aisle in a busy distribution center.

Farmacias Guadalajara is a major distributor of not only the pharmaceutical products that are inherent to a Pharmacy, but has become synonymous with providing a large line of daily products throughout their local store network – personal care, food items, snacks, etc – and are often referred to as ‘Mini-Supers’. To handle such a demanding load, FG has established several major distribution centers in key locations throughout Mexico.   The distribution facility in Monterrey serves the hundreds of local stores in Northern Mexico on an ‘as-needed’ basis and is serviced by multiple trucks arriving and leaving daily to meet the demand.

A modern distribution layout must maximize its floor space and flow.  The RYSON spirals are used to convey products up and down within the rack system, but also have become critical in creating aisles to provide essential access to the various products on the racks. These and other RYSON spirals in the facility form a network of interconnecting conveyor systems to provide modern solutions to an ever-demanding world.

Bucket Elevators RenderingRyson Bucket Elevators: This week Novasem, a major seed supplier in Mexico celebrated the grand opening of their new modern corn seed processing plant outside Guadalajara. 12 Ryson Bucket Elevators have been installed. The plant is part of their  expansion and modernization program. The event hosted food and music and even a Catholic blessing. The plant was recently completed and the ceremony was planned before production starts.

There are several different bucket elevator sizes supporting their process and some of elevators will be handing up to 20,000 lbs. per hour and are more than 60 feet tall. The bucket elevators utilize the FDA approved pivoting buckets moving through a fully-enclosed powder-coated carbon steel structure.

The Ryson Bucket Elevators combine vertical and horizontal transportation of bulk material in one integral unit and they can have multiple inlets and outlets. Their modular design and rugged construction make them suitable for a wide variety of applications. For more information on the Ryson Bucket Elevator, visit www.ryson.com or read more bucket elevator stories from our blog.12 Ryson Bucket Elevators Photos
