The Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral is ideal for a high speed inline bottling operation. Due to it’s modular design, it can be configured to the most challenging layouts. We also have the flexibility to build a spiral in sections to address tight egress installation challenges.

Ryson Narrow Trak Spiral aids in Tight Egress InstallationThis week we shipped a spiral that is a perfect example example of tight egress installation . Due to plant and line access issues, the spiral has to travel down an aisle-way only 42” wide. This required us to design the spiral such that it could ship in (4) sections (note the flanges in the center tube). This Narrow Trak Model 1100-150 spiral is for our Integrator Partner, Sentry Equipment, to be installed at a west coast bottler, running sports drinks in PET bottles at 525 per minute.

The spiral has an elevation change from 15’-4” down to 6’-6” and will side transfer and decline the bottles at a speed of 180 FPM (this spiral has a top rated speed of 220 FPM). The spiral will be run in and tested with product at our manufacturing plant in Yorktown, Virginia, before it is dis-assembled and shipped to the west coast. Then one of our service technicians will assist the Sentry millwrights in the assembly and start-up.

The spiral is also pre-wired with NEMA 4x controls and is built as our new Hybrid stainless steel wash down construction. This option allows the end-user to perform a daily cleaning of the spiral. The nesting slats have the capacity to reliably end-transfer small cartons and packages or side-transfer small bottles or containers in a single file or in a continuous mass flow.  The spiral conveyors are equipped with our new 6” or 9” wide nesting slats which provide an efficient flat conveying surface without gaps.

This week we’re shipping one of our hybrid wash-down Narrow Trak Spirals to a food products company.

wash-down narrow trak spiralsThis model 1100-150 spiral will be used to incline packed cheese loafs about 6 feet to an overhead conveyor. The spiral will transfer 100 loaves per minute with the spiral running at 150 FPM.

Because the spiral will be installed in a wash-down area, the spiral is equipped with our new Solid Lube Bearings that are impervious to the cleaning solutions and methods used in food processing areas. The spiral is also outfitted with an automatic chain lube system that the customer will use to re-lube the drive chain after every cleaning event.

The Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals are great space savers with high throughput that can run at speeds in excess of 200 fpm. The Narrow Trak Spirals offer a significantly larger elevation change capacity than what is currently available in the small package marketplace. They are also a good alternative to side gripper conveyors because they can run at high speeds and do not need to be adjusted for varying product sizes.

Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyors used for Curing Time: This week we finished a pair of Narrow Trak Spirals that will be used for a not-so-common application.

Two Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyors used for Curing Time

The products being handled need curing time to solidify in their containers.  This is done in a temperature controlled, chill room.

By using two 1100-150 Narrow Trak Spirals this was accomplished in a very small footprint.

Each spiral has 8 turns, providing extra travel distance and keeping the incline angle low, which is important while waiting for the product to solidify. Depending on the products being handled, they may spend up to 4 minutes traveling through the spirals before exiting the room.

The two spirals are joined together at the top by our new micro-pitch conveyor.  This special conveyor is attached to, and mechanically driven by one of the spirals facilitating the smooth transfer of smaller products.

The design of the narrow trak slats allow the spirals to handle a variety of products without requiring any changes between products. The integrator on this project is Pendergraph Machines.

The Ryson Narrow Trak Spirals are great space savers with high throughput that can run at speeds in excess of 200 fpm.  These spiral conveyors are equipped with our 6” or 9” wide nesting slats which provide an efficient flat conveying surface without gaps.

Tall Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyor In a few weeks we will be shipping this tall Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyor to a snack packager that will be lowering empty composite cans from a mezzanine to the floor level.

The spiral will be installed during a short shutdown period and will involve one of our service technicians who will supervise the rigging and help with the re-assembly and fit-up of the side transfer conveyor at both the infeed and outfield. The composite cans, which will eventually get filled with nuts, travel down from 18’-2” at 175 cans per minute.

This Model 1100-150 Narrow Trak Spiral Conveyor is manufactured in our hybrid stainless steel finish, suitable for wet conditions. It is built to ship in two sections, due to egress issues in the installation area.

The Narrow Trak’s 6” wide nesting slats allow this spiral to be used for end transfer or side transfer, making it perfect for cartons, bottles, jars and pouches. It is an alternative to side gripper elevators and has a larger elevation change capability than any other compact spiral on the market. Ryson Narrow Trak SpiralThe modular design of the new NT model allows for end transfer or side transfer of products like bottles, cans, jars, pouches and cartons in single file or mass flow (for round products).

This week we shipped one of our new model 1100-150 Narrow Trak Spirals. This slim spiral with a 6” wide slat surface was a perfect fit for Innovative Conveyor Systems, our integrator partner. They are using this down spiral to handle cartons of herbal teas for their client, a nutraceutical manufacturer.

The Narrow Trak spiral is perfect for applications where side gripper elevators have been commonly used. The NT 1100-150 is designed to reliably operate at speeds in excess of 200 FPM, which will allow this spiral to be used in high speed lines. The spiral can also be reversible and is available in a hybrid stainless steel version for use in wet environments. Our design is modular like our other models, allowing this spiral to be reconfigured in the field when repurposing is required.

Some of the improvements to this model include a more versatile slat width, enhanced nesting slat design to ensure smooth transfer with no pinch points or gaps. This design also completely utilizes the Ryson rolling low friction chain arrangement, which allows it to handle a larger elevation change, or more turns to lower the pitch for less stable products.
