Ryson International is an active member of PMMI. Our President and CEO Ole Rygh attended the PMMI Annual Meeting which was held in Greenville, South Carolina last week. PMMI’s Chairman reported that the organization is growing and is in good health. There were many useful presentations and activities including the following:

There was a pertinent presentation on the National Export Initiative with sustainability issues and programs available for small and mid-sized manufacturers. Panel discussions included consumer packaged goods companies automation needs and the role equipment suppliers play in early packaging design stages. A panel of brand managers discussed the factors that impact their choices of packaging materials and how those choices affect the machinery they use. Other discussions included economic outlooks and how to win orders without negatively impacting the bottom line.

The highlight of the event was the plant tour of Hartness International, Inc., a world-class facility. Visitors learned about cross-functional teams and how to seek out and eliminate waste in any process. The meeting ended with a passionate presentation on how to elevate success for the best return on our PACK EXPO investment.

Pack Expo Logo and DateRyson will be attending PACK EXPO next month in Chicago. It will be a large show for Ryson as we are bringing a High Capacity / Multiple In-feed Vertical Spiral Conveyor, a Mass Flow Spiral Conveyor, and a Unit Load Case Spiral Conveyor. We will be in Booth 4634 and hope to see you there.

Ryson International always welcomes our system integrators to bring their clients to our manufacturing plant to perform final inspections (FAT- Factory Acceptance Test). It is another step we take to ensure customer satisfaction and confidence in our product.

Ryson Service Manager and Customer Look over a New Spiral Before Final Shipment

This week we hosted Kimberly-Clark for a pre-shipment inspection of two new spiral conveyors handling bundles of diapers. Ryson’s spiral lifts are perfectly suited to handle fragile packaging, but often the customer wants to see the handling first-hand. The visit also allowed their engineer to inspect the spirals conveyors in operation, review our integration/installation guidelines, preventative maintenance procedures and to ensure our machines meet their requirements.

It was time well spent and we received the following feedback. “Thank you for hosting my Visit. I really appreciated the flexibility and hospitality of your team. The overall equipment design was very good and I can tell there is a high degree of commitment to customer service. I look forward to receiving the photos and temperature data. Please pass along my thanks and appreciation to the rest of the team.”

Ryson spiral conveyors support sustainability in many ways. The most obvious efficiency is against the traditional incline conveyor. The space savings is quite evident from the two comparative illustrations below. The spiral conveyor solution on the right layout needs  fewer motors making it 133% more efficient. With corresponding savings in energy costs, that can save substantial energy plant-wide. In addition, it saves on integration costs by simplifying wiring and safety controls.

Ryson Spiral Conveyors require less floorspace, fewer controls and only one drive motor.

The proprietary rolling friction design of the slat chain makes the spiral conveyor extremely efficient. All Ryson products require little maintenance and have a very low noise level.  All bearings are sealed for life and do not need subsiquent lubrication. All Ryson products are modular in design and are easily convertible in the field to meet emerging needs. Visit www.ryson.com for additional information on Vertical Spiral Conveyors.
